Audio Entrainment is the processes of retraining your brain to produce a more broad range of brainwave patterns.
The electrical activity in your brain is measured as brainwaves. Your brain generates different brainwaves depending upon your thought process and actions. Very slow brainwaves are prominent during
sleep. Much faster brainwaves are active when you are alert, solving a problem, or mentally working on a task.
Brainwave patterns are somewhat unique to each person. A person will usually experience some difficulty in life if they cannot generate a full range of brainwave patterns. For example, if you
cannot sleep well, this may be because you cannot generate very low frequency brainwaves. If you have difficulty concentrating, it may be because you have a pattern of not generating very high frequency brainwaves. A solution for these common problems is
brainwave entrainment and brainwave synchronization.
Many chronic conditions are known to display abnormal brain wave patterns including Closed Head Injuries, PTSD, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Anxiety and Depression also exhibit unique brainwave patterns.
Brainwave patterns can be influenced in very specific ways. Some commonly used techniques are
Neurofeedback,
biofeedback,
Audio Entrainment and Audio Visual Entrainment. Audio Visual entrainment provides brain stimulation through headphones and special glasses that "blink" at a specific brainwave frequency. This is a method used by some Mind Machines for brain training.
The technique used on this website is Audio Entrainment. This technique uses an audible rhythm to change your brainwaves. It uses the scientific principle of
Frequency Following Response. This means that when you listen to a rhythm of the right frequency, your brain will naturally be influenced to follow, become entrained, to that rhythm. Using this process, you can train your brain to
fall asleep more easily or to
wake up when needed.
Brain Synchronization is another objective of brain training. Synchronization occurs between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. This produces mind relaxation, and other unique experiences. Brain sync is accomplished through the use of
binaural beats and is readily verified through brainwave biofeedback. Binaural beats are achieved by playing two slightly different tones in each ear.
With a little practice,
your brain can relearn how to entrain to these various brainwave frequencies and bring a greater sense of wellness to areas that have been difficult for you. This process typically takes a few days of listening to the Audio Entrainment sounds. You can listen once or twice a day.
Refer to the
site Index for a complete list of Audio Sessions and information.
Here are a few tips to help with the Entrainment process as you are listening to an Audio Session.
- Use headphones when the Audio Session indicates they are required. You will need the discreet stereo that only headphones can provide. Many sessions do not require headphones.
- Listen at a comfortable volume. The sound should be low enough that you are not resisting it, or feeling uncomfortable.
- Allow the sound to "fill" your head and replace your "mental chatter".
- Listen for the beat or pulsating rhythm in the sound. It may range from a slow 4 beats per second to a rapid 30 times per second depending to the type of Audio Session you are using.
- Don’t try to meditate of achieve something, let the sound do the work.
- You may use it as much as you like, but one or twice a day should be plenty
Enjoy training your brain!
